Passion

My passion for promoting resilience among paramedics stems from a profound understanding of the emotional challenges inherent in the profession. Having experienced firsthand the impact on personal well-being and relationships, I am driven to contribute to a culture that prioritises mental health and equips paramedics with the tools to navigate the complex emotional landscape they encounter daily.

Understanding that the source of empowerment needs to be separated from the cultural influences and professional concerns of line management, organisational change, and the perception of “mandatory wellness”, it follows that the way to engage with professionals, regardless of clinical grade, is to use the human connection. That being facilitated by safety in feeling vulnerable, safety in expressing emotions, and safety from the negative impacts of judgmentalism.

Through my diverse experiences, I’ve learned that resilience is not just a professional necessity but a personal imperative. I am dedicated to advocating for the well-being of paramedics, fostering a culture that values emotional resilience, and providing the necessary tools and personal, pastoral support to ensure ambulance staff can navigate their roles with strength, empathy, and longevity. My journey is a testament to the transformative power of resilience, and it fuels my commitment to instilling this resilience in paramedics for a healthier and more sustainable profession.
